Remarkably Bright Creatures

You know, this is the third movie in two weeks that Alejandra and I have watched that had cgi animals as prominent secondary characters (Michael and his monkey, the sheep detectives, and now this octopus). All three had a certain uncanny valley aspect to them. Too real to be passingly noticeable. But each time they came on screen I was slightly taken out of the movie because I was looking for the blurs in the lines between computer and reality. That said, of the three, this was my favorite. It was a hallmark movie. But one of the good ones. Cheesy and predictable and heartwarming in enough balance to make us cry and laugh and only roll our eyes a little bit. Very glad we got to watch it together.
