My take

Our childhood! When Joshie and I learned that chess the musical was being revived on Broadway in NYC we knew we had to do whatever it took to go see it. And turns out watching the musical live makes the story make a lot more sense than just knowing the melodies and choruses of the songs (I was into it, but not memorize every line into it beforehand). The actors and singers were great (though I have a small preference for the both the original cast and the Josh Groban / Idina Menzel versions). And the breaking of the fourth wall stuff they did was fun and entertaining. I was also impressed with the backup dancers who sat perfectly still as the main characters had their parts. I think about them sometimes in meetings at work while I'm fiddling with something or looking my phone!
