New York Times Tour

My take

A highlight of a trip chock full of highlights, but this one is near the top of the memory pile. I had won via email submission random drawing to the New York Times a chance to attend a news meeting in the Times building. We got to go into the archives below and see the files of old papers (and unpublished obituaries). We got to sit in on a national desks team meeting. We also got to sit down with the two guys designing the front page. They let us in on a secret that two famous actresses were about to announce major Me Too alligations. All incredibly exciting. Though the high of the high was the full editorial meeting we got to attend where we introduced ourselves. When I said I had become a subscriber after following the Run Up podcast the room literally broke into an applause and one of the writers or editors yelled "we love our subscribers" haha. It was a memory Alejandra and I laugh about frequently and one that I will cherish forever.
