My take
I heard afterwards reports that up to 5m people attended this parade. It was nuts! Most of the people from my office were very excited to watch from the tv in the safety of the office, but there was no way I was going to miss this! So I ventured out on my own. I got within like 10 people from the line. Lots of excitement in the wait, which wasn't too long if my memory serves. Then absolute joyous pandamonium as the broken curse team passed buy with trophey in hand. Then it quickly became a nightmare. For the first time I understood what it means to be in a stampede and how dangerous they can be. All of these millions of people (including the many drunk teens among them) decided it was time to leave. There was no way we could get it out at the same time. I could understand how people could get trodden and truly hurt. I dodged not one but two people puking and one went down and was being helped by friends but they were barely keeping the crowd from trampling her. It was nuts! I counted myself very lucky to make it back to the office.
