Still not good. There was one scene in the whole book where something actually happened (after the in front of train sequence). But that was it. I mean it's a fun to make fun of story. As I texted the cousins that sent me this "About two thirds through book three and the creativity is incredible!!! An annotated potion book and a powerful ring that corrupts 🤯". Haha it's just mostly dumb. Which is actually fine. I don't mind silly or dumb. I love the princess bride, I love the series of unfortunate events, I love the big mouth tv series. This one just doesn't feel like there are any stakes at all, which makes it really hard to care. I know Carl and Donut aren't going to die. And that's the problem with this. They're not going for anything. They're just surviving. By this point hunger games had a beautiful and moving and harrowing conclusion with wonderful arcs for many characters. There's just not arch here. Nothing is happening!!
