The Catcher in the Rye

I wanted to read something super NYCy on our 9 day trip. I literally could not have picked better! Similarly to my experience with of mice and men, I can't believe I'd never heard anything about this book besides its title. I chose this one partly because the Times Book review podcast offhandidly mentioned that this one is often read in highschool and an accompanying assignment is to draw out on a map of Manhattan where he goes. I love maps and navigating, especially in NYC so it felt appropriate. It did not dissappoint on that front! But it also was just a fantastic story with an incredible character. I carried it around the city in the bottom left big pocket of my green snow coat (the one Alejandr has used for the last 8 years during her pregnancies). I had my four-color pen in my other pocket and highlighted a ton of favorite passages in general and about NYC in general. So much so that I think I'm now going to start a little collection of fav passages, which will be just a google doc with fav parts. This is a book I'll come back to.
