My take

The Empire of the Elite book cites Gay as the historian of the NYT. So I knew this would be the next book I read. However, the book itself might be a good reference but not a good cover to cover read for me today. It felt like reading someone's high school journal or year book. If you knew the people, you'd find it endlessly interesting. But I don't, so it was a bit hard to follow.
